Development co-operation report 2010

This annual report provides a statistical analysis of the trends in international aid addressing the economic, food and climate change crises' impact on efforts to meet the Millennium Development Goals as a growing challenges for both donors and developing countries alike. It reviews OECD's policy guidance for integrating climate change adaptation into development co-operation at all levels - from local, to project, and up to the national policy level - including the reinforcement between climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction and management; It prompts developing country partners to lead these efforts, and for international donors to play a role in supporting their efforts, either through direct funding or by promoting capacity building.

It recognizes the support of many international initiatives, such as the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction, in designing and implementing national adaptation policies, and calls for these initiatives to be enhanced and strengthened so that developing countries can use them to integrate climate change adaptation into national policies. It also analyses the relationship between natural disasters, growth and poverty, especially in Bangladesh where one of the 19 policy matrices for implementing the poverty reduction strategy focuses exclusively on comprehensive disaster management.
