National adaptation programmes of action (NAPAs) provide a process for Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to identify priority activities that respond to their urgent and immediate needs to adapt to climate change – those for which further delay would increase vulnerability and/or costs at a later stage.
The impacts of climate change on sectors such as agriculture, water, health, energy and others have been the driving force for the preparation of the Tanzania National Adaptation Programme of Action (NAPA). After two years of comprehensive information and data collection and analysis as well as wide consultations, Tanzania’s NAPA preparation project has been finalized. This document has been prepared with the primary objective of identifying and promoting activities that address urgent and immediate needs for adapting to the adverse impacts of climate change. The focus of this work has been on adaptation needs in the agriculture, water, energy, health and forestry sectors.
