Tokyo Statement: Towards a new science and technology to consolidate disaster risk reduction and sustainable development

The Tokyo Statement 2015 provides an overview of new science and technology in relation to disaster risk reduction and sustainable development and its corresponding draft action agenda.

In this statement four key areas are highlighted and addressed:

  1. Assessment of the present status
  2. Key directions for addressing problems through solidarity towards building resilience
  3. Findings and recommendations in addition to
  4. Proposals for concrete initiatives to be taken in cooperation with national and international stakeholders


This is a joint statement of the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR), the Science Council of Japan (SCJ), The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) and the University of Tokyo Science.
