UN General Assembly 67th session: Statement delivered at the General Debate - Cuba

A statement delivered to the 67th General Assembly annual General Debate by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Cuba, in which he highlighted the worsening of environmental destruction, the loss of biodiversity and the natural balance of ecosystems, the marginalization of more than a half of the world's population, and the absence of global measures to stop the advance of climate change as the causes of an ever-growing risk to the physical integrity of entire nations, particularly the small Island States. Under these circumstances, he urged "to save the United Nations Organization while subjecting it to a profound reform to put it at the service of all the equally sovereign States, and removing it from the arbitrariness and double standards of a handful of industrialized and powerful countries."
