Gambia: NDMA Executive Director message on the International Day for Disaster Reduction 13 October 2013

A statement in Which the Gambia National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) recognizes the vulnerability of the disables to all forms of disasters, and highlights the marginalization of persons living with disabilities and the way in which disasters amplify their dilemma. In this statement, NDMA Executive Director also announces the development of guidelines for addressing the major disasters that could potentially affect the country and preparing the risk mapping of the country. He finally makes a personal appeal for the public to stop practices that cause man-induced disasters and to collectively make concerted efforts to reduce the numerous perennial floods and fire outbreaks that continued to claim lives and destroy properties.
