Tanzania: Maasai herders breed fewer, stronger cattle to tackle climate change

Climate change induced drought is pushing Maasai pastoralists in Tanzania to keep smaller herds of cattle but selecting more resilient breeds, as reported by Lucas Liganga, writing for Alertnet. The Tanzania Natural Resource Forum's climate change adaptation projects helps local efforts in the drylands of the Arusha region. Similar projects have started in Ethiopia, Kenya and Nepal as well, with support from the International Institute for Environment and Development.
