Deadline extended to 30 April 2012
The 4th IDRC Davos 2012 will take place in Davos, Switzerland from 26 – 30 August 2012 with several Pre- and Post-Conference activities (conferences, workshops, trainings). For the 4th time risk and disaster management experts, practitioners, scientists, key players from UN and International Organizations, civil society, Non-Governmental Organisations and the private sector meet in Davos to discuss latest scientific findings and sustainable solutions for today’s challenges. This biennial global gathering attracts about 1000 participants from over 100 countries and offers an ideal platform for networking, knowledge exchange and dissemination of practical knowhow.
The IDRC Davos 2012 overall theme “Integrative Risk Management in a changing world – Pathways to a Resilient Society” will further establish and develop the approach to integrative risk and disaster management. Risks and disasters explored at the IDRC include, amongst others, natural hazards, cascading effects, or failures of critical infrastructure and services. Measures to be taken to increase resilience and reduce vulnerability shall be addressed along the whole risk cycle of prevention, preparedness, disaster response and recovery. All can severely impact and influence human beings and collective societies.
