Disaster risk reduction for sustaining education

In their op-ed for New Age, Tasfi Sal-Sabil and M Mizanur Rahman address the triangular relationship between disaster, poverty and education in Bangladesh. People in disaster prone areas of Bangladesh "are not well off enough to have some preparedness or mitigation measure for disaster," they say. They highlight the crucial necessity to have more investment on the rural schools so that the disaster events cannot hamper education and present some non-government initiatives addressing the disaster risk through school based activities.
