Australia: Scientists identify higher risk of natural disasters

A 530-page report by Australian scientists about climate change impacts will be presented at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 17), currently happening in Durban, South Africa reports Northern Argus. It was primarily produced to help nations prepare and adapt for future conditions as it forecasts more natural disasters from events such as landslides.

The report's co-editor, Scott Power, of the Bureau of Meteorology, said, "natural variability alone can't explain past climate, nor will it be able to wholly explain future climate. We need to examine both natural variability and human-forced climate change in order to understand the past and the future."
