Health tab for climate change: $14 billion - USA

Mother Jones reports that climate change-related disasters caused $14 billion in health costs in first decade of the 2000s, according to a new paper published this week in the journal 'Health Affairs'.

"The paper points to the fact that climate change is something that both health care providers and insurers might want to pay more attention to. As I reported last year, insurers have been slow to take on climate as an issue they should be factoring into their long-term planning", writes Kate Sheppard for Mother Jones.
