High school students from earthquake-prone central Taiwan left for Japan Sunday to embark on a week-long trip to learn disaster prevention skills, says Focus Taiwan. The trip is part of the Ministry of Education's plan to increase educational exchanges between Taiwan and Japan.
They will visit Maiko Senior High School in Hyogo Prefecture, the only high school in Japan that offers environmental and disaster mitigation courses. They will also visit disaster prevention centers in Hyogo and Nara prefectures as well as Turuga High School in Fukui Prefecture to get a first-hand look at how students there prepare for and prevent nuclear disasters.
