The Geneva-based self-organized ISDR Support Group, which was established in 2002, met on a number of occasions as part of the follow-up process to the WCDR in Kobe the strengthening of the ISDR system. The Support Group is open to all interested States. Its main aim is to mobilize the necessary political and financial support for the effective functioning of the strengthened ISDR system, focusing in particular on issues related to the participation of States in the system. In that context, the group provides support, advice, feedback and information exchange with the USG and his Deputy, as well as with the Director of the ISDR Secretariat. It also acts as an informal venue for discussions among Governments on all relevant matters pertaining to the ISDR system.
