Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC)

BNNRC is a national networking body on alternative mass media working for building a democratic society based on the principles of free flow of information, equitable & affordable access to Information, Communication Technology (ICT) for remote & marginalized population. It holds Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).

BNNRC's outreach extends to local, national and international forums. Communication is recognized as an essential human need and, therefore, as a basic human right. In this backdrop, BNNRC's working strategies are: 1. Communicating in Public Sphere; 2. Communicating Knowledge; 3. Civil Rights in Communication; 4. Cultural Rights in Communication

BNNRC now strives for core interventions to achieve Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP), World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Action Plan and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) including the establishment of Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services (RACES) for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) through Amateur Radio (HAM Radio) Promotion

Global Development Network (GDNet)

GDNet provides southern researchers with a space to profile their work and opportunities to engage with others working in development policy and practice including topics such as Disaster Risk Reduction or Climate Change Adaptation. The tools and services that it offers have been developed specifically to support researchers working in developing countries and to make their work known to an international audience.

The GDNet Knowledgebase is a comprehensive internet portal to development research produced in developing countries. Free to use, it features more than 16,500 research papers which are accompanied by clear conclusion based summaries. You can browse by topic through the GDNet Thematic Windows.

Global Media Network for Disaster Risk Reduction

Every year, millions of people are killed or affected by floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, droughts or storms throughout the world. Disasters do not come by surprise. They can be foreseen and often result from the same similar processes which are mainly due to human actions. Every disaster should be a media opportunity to question the 'process' behind the facts.
