Description/Qualifications
The Sr. Associate for Disaster Health Services (HS) provides national level advice and technical guidance ensuring implementation, assistance and direction in accordance with specific healthcare objectives and within Disaster Health Services protocols. This position works closely with Disaster Mental Health Services and other Direct Service activities in preparing for and provision of integrated services for disaster victims, and communities.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain relationships with appropriate national health organizations, associations, and governmental agencies, providing technical information regarding the development of all HS related training materials, policy and operational procedures, providing guidance and direction for the leadership development of HS volunteers and paid staff. Reviews, analyzes, evaluates, recommends and initiates solutions to operational issues and needs having a major health impact on disaster relief operations, victims, communities and workers.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree and a minimum of five years related work experience with current license as a Registered Nurse. At least, 1 year supervisory experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills in order to coordinate and communicate appropriate delivery of service for disaster relief operations; ability to work collaboratively with others in stressful situations; knowledge of health and nursing organizations. Ability to network with high levels of management within the organization and with outside agencies and organizations.
Position requires a commitment of 24 hour/7days a week rotating on-call responsibility. Must be able to travel for extended periods, often under adverse conditions, with little or no advance planning. Must have the ability to work on-site in disaster affected areas, and to frequently work non-standard hours.
