IVOWED has formed community-based disaster management (CBDM) in collaboration with the local district assembly. Disaster management activities are following: Training workshops for volunteer teams on how to implement disaster prevention measures to the local communities; Early warning to the communities to be prepared for impending disasters; Strategies for evacuation and providing first aid; Educating the rural communities in the flood-prone areas to change the traditional building practice (code) and build houses that could withstand the impact of flood waters; Communication centres to link the community to government agencies for any disaster events wthin the communities for immediate disaster recovery and relief operations.
