Founded on April 3, 1949, the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) is a social group, which unites women from various ethnic backgrounds and circles. It works toward the further emancipation of women. It is the bridge and link between the Party and the Government and women, as well as the important pillar of the State power. Its basic function is to represent and safeguard women's rights and interests, and promote gender equality.
