African Youth Movement (AYM)

Organization Profile

Mission

The African Youth Movement [AYM], an NGO is Consultative status with the Economic and Social Council [ECOSOC] of the United Nations as well as an accredited NGO in affiliation with the Department of Public Information [DPI] of the United Nations aims to strengthen evidence-based policymaking and implentation in Nigeria in the areas of disaster risk reduction [DRR]. In collaboration with the Global Network for Disaster Reduction [GNDR]- collaboating centre of the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction [UNISDR], we support the strengthening of disaster risk reduction policies and strategies.

Disaster Reduction Goal

Improved communication linkages and consultations between policymakers, policy analysts, and policy beneficiaries on disaster risk reduction with a view to full implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action [HFA] 2015

Policies and Programmes in DRR

Assess the extent progress has been made towards the HFA 2015 by implementing 'Views from the Frontline [VFL]' survey in Nigeria. VFL is coordinated internationally by the Global Network for Disaster Reduction [GNDR] based in the United Kingdom
