Following the events in Japan, the Federal Council has declared a new moratorium on nuclear plants. Authorities were examining three requests for new nuclear reactors but those procedures are now on hold. Swiss nuclear plants may not ever see a tsunami but they’ve been built to withstand an earthquake with a magnitude of seven.
