India's most flood-prone state aided by new satellite mapping

Bihar, bordering the Himalayan nation of Nepal, is India's most flood-prone state. More than 70% of its total geographical area is at risk of annual floods that put lives at risk and lead to heavy financial losses. New satellite mapping of flood-prone areas should transform disaster response by equipping authorities with near real-time information of inundated villages.
