This guide will provide models of integration of health into national disaster risk reduction plans and strategies at different levels, and offer guidance to the central government disaster risk reduction focal point to assist in the application of these models.

    Concept note

    Health is a key element of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. It is referenced in the document’s primary outcome: the substantial reduction of disaster risk and losses in lives, livelihoods and health and in the economic, physical, social, cultural and environmental assets of persons, businesses, communities and countries. Health is also referenced in four out of the seven global targets.
