Description

The Advanced Diploma in Public Safety (Emergency Management) programme is designed for people with a new or established role in emergency management who wish to gain a formal competency based qualification through coursework and workplace practice. The key elements of the program are the development of networks, the sharing of ideas and resources and mutual support between states and territories. Preference will be given to applicants who have no (or few) formally recognised competencies in emergency management
AEMI opened its doors over five decades ago and is the pre-eminent provider of education, research and training in national emergency management and disaster resilience.

Considered the ‘go to’ organisation for emergency management matters, AEMI has extensive networks that assist in the development of emergency management doctrine used by governments, private industry, not-for-profits, academics and policy makers within Australia and internationally.

Every year, some 2,500 emergency management professionals from around Australia benefit from AEMI’s specialised services and products.

Admission Requirement

As part of the Learning and Assessment strategy for this program, candidates are required to have completed Introduction to Emergency Risk Management (IERM) and Introduction to Emergency Management (IEM) prior to enrollment (Introduction to Disaster Risk Management and Disaster Management Arrangements in Queensland).

Prospective students should apply using the Advanced Diploma nomination form on the AEMI website; send it to their State or Territory nominating authority and complete the written task. The authority will forward the form to AEMI.
